The Basketball Hall of Famer revealed on Friday that Isiah Thomas, a legend of the Detroit Pistons, has been diagnosed with Bell’s palsy.
During an interview on the podcast “Come And Talk 2 Me,” which is co-hosted by former NBA player and NBA broadcaster Mark Jackson and his son, Mark Jackson Jr. (who appears on the show as “Bluu”), Thomas disclosed his ailment.
One side of the face might become partially paralyzed due to a neurological condition called Bell’s palsy. The right side of Thomas’s mouth was a little rigid as he talked.
“I’ve received a lot of love from people who have asked, ‘Well, what is he going through?’ I know that people are watching.” As he related a story about playing for the renowned Indiana coach Bob Knight, Thomas. Additionally, I haven’t really told anyone. You view me this way because I have Bell’s palsy.
“Thank you for the love and prayers, but that’s what’s going on with my mouth at the moment. I simply want everyone to be aware of who will be viewing this program.
The Philadelphia 76ers athlete Joel Embiid was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy in April, and former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Levi Wallace was diagnosed in 2022. It is typically a temporary condition that disappears within a few months.
Thomas, who is widely regarded as the best player in the history of the team, guided the “Bad Boys” to consecutive titles in 1989 and 1990. He was selected to five All-NBA teams and twelve All-Star teams.
