The Illinois Fighting Illini defeated South Carolina 21 – 17 in the Citrus Bowl on Tuesday at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, prostrating an emotional alternate half that featured six lead changes and one head trainer altercation.
It was the first 10- palm season for Illinois since 2001.
At 729 in the fourth quarter, McCray broke two tackles to run 9 yards into the end zone for his alternate half score, restoring the Illini’s lead to 21- 17.
