When Beyoncé performed during halftime of the Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens game on Christmas Day, she was the star of the show.
The “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer rode into NRG Stadium in Houston and performed songs from her recently released album, “Cowboy Carter.”
At one point, Shaboozey and Post Malone joined her on the field.
Beyoncé was elevated above the field on a scaffold as she began to wrap up. Then, as a large “Bang” banner unfolded behind her, she performed a finger-gun motion with her hands.
Social media reactions were largely good, and stadium patrons cheered. But because of the league’s crackdown this season, NFL fans began making fun of the finger-gun motion.
After scores or to indicate a first down, a number of NFL players have displayed finger guns. Following such festivities, game officials have thrown flags as the league has clamped down on protests that involve violent gestures.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also spoke about the issue.
“It’s a long-standing policy, and we are going to enforce that,” he stated. “Just last week, I think Troy had a direct conversation with the union about it. We’ll keep concentrating on that. We believe it conveys the incorrect messages and is inappropriate in those situations. Thus, we’ll keep doing that.
