LeBron James, the great player for the Los Angeles Lakers, reportedly stated that he sees himself being in the NBA for many years to come.
But there were doubts about King James’ ability to play in the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on New Year’s Eve.
James has been promoted from questionable to active for Tuesday’s contest.
After missing Saturday’s game against the Sacramento Kings, James will return to the starting lineup for the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Cavaliers, who have a 28-4 record and are ranked first in the Eastern Conference, are possibly the best team in the NBA right now. The Lakers will play them. Cleveland is undoubtedly a powerhouse.
In order for the Lakers to win, James will be absolutely necessary.
James is still playing at an elite level, averaging 23.5 points, nine assists, 7.9 total rebounds, and 0.8 steals per game, even though he just turned 40. He presently ranks second in scoring behind Anthony Davis and leads the team in assists.
In relation to Davis, he was recently promoted to probable to play Cleveland. Averaging 26 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, two blocks, and 1.2 steals a game, he is now the Lakers’ best player.
James’ return to the court is significant, but the Lakers will be without Gabe Vincent, their backup point guard, who is sidelined because of a left oblique injury. Coming off the bench, Vincent has averaged 4.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 0.8 steals a game this season.
Three other players have been named out in addition to the three important L.A. players. Jalen Hood-Schifino is out due to a left hamstring strain, Christian Wood is still recuperating from knee surgery, and Jarred Vanderbilt is still recuperating from surgery on his right foot.
With an 18-13 record, Los Angeles and the Denver Nuggets are now tied for sixth place in the Western Conference standings. The Los Angeles Clippers, who are ranked fifth, are just half a game behind them.
It goes without saying that the Lakers need to win this game against the Cavaliers in order to establish their eligibility for the postseason. And King James playing is the best method for them to have a shot.
